Types Of Dental Braces

Dental braces, also known as orthodontic braces is a special device used to align crooked of flawed teeth. They are prescribed by orthodontists to people who have either crooked teeth, misaligned upper or lower jaw or uneven overbites and underbites.

They are attached to the teeth tightly in order to reshape the misaligned teeth. They are usually worn for a particular period of them. Some may wear them  for months while some wear them for years. Their duration entirely depends on the extent of misalignment of teeth. 

Dental braces come in many shapes and forms and are of various types it depends on the orthodontist to choose the suitable type for a particular patient. Following are some types of dental braces commonly used:

These dental braces are the oldest and the most common type of dental braces. They are made of stainless steel and they still are very expensive. They are still preferred by many orthodontists due to the fact that they prove to be the best cure for misaligned teeth.

They maybe a large structure having square metal brackets holding the entire set of teeth firmly or may maybe a thin wired structures passing halfway through the teeth of upper and lower jaw. They are fixed behind the molars for firm support.

These braces as said are the best solution for misaligned teeth but the only drawback these braces have is that they leave a permanent stain on the surface of the teeth which usually stays forever even after the braces have been removed.

Many people use gold as a metal for their braces instead of steel. These braces are usually prescribed to those patients who are allergic to steel.  A lot of people wear gold braces also to showcase their wealth and in many cases they serve to be just a fashion statement. 

Contrary to metal braces which are very prominent, Lingual braces when worn are really hard to detect. They are installed on the behinds and insides of the teeth an and are ideal for those who do not want their braces visible.

They are expensive and give a good result however they can be very painful and irritating at times. They may cause sores and cuts on the gums and at the initial stage make it hard for the person to speak.

Ceramic metal dental braces are made(as the name suggests) made of ceramic rather than steel and are more less as strong as the metal dental braces, only,  they are far more expensive. Unlike metal braces they are white and blend in with the original color of the teeth.

This makes them less visible from the distance. They also differ from the metal braces in the matter of staining as they, unlike the metal braces do not leave a stain on the surface of the teeth.

Although they give a firm support and have many advantages, but due to their expensive price, many orthodontists prefer metal braces over ceramic braces for the patients. Other than that their treatment also takes a lot of time.

This type of dental braces is new and is perfect for those with minor orthodontic minor alignments. They are made of plastic and are easily removed. Anyone wearing these braces can remove them while eating and they are also changed every two weeks.

They are based on the latest align technology which consists of a clear plastic brace which has small plastic brackets. These dental braces are extremely expensive and are less common in use than the other types of braces. They are not used for children rather they are preferred for the teenagers and adults.

A-braces is a new type of dental braces. They are in the shape of letter A and are perfect to realign upper and lower bites. They are comfortable and can be easily removed by the user.

There are knobbed bits at the ends of the arms of the A shaped braces that are bitten down over by the user. Also across the arms of the braces are cross bars that adjust the width between the knobbed bits.

The best thing about these braces is that they are very easily adjusted. The user does not have to go through the process of pain and can easily handle them.
